Gianluca Breda
After receiving his diploma for Violoncello
in 1992, he began studying Opera with
music masters Giovanna Vighi and Françoise Garner. In 1997 he received his diploma for vocal performance with honors
in the conservatory “A.Boito” in Parma. In 1997, he won first place in the in the Dijon competition for singers in France , and began his operatic career.
Mr. Breda worked steadily as the only bass in the troupe of the Grand Theatre de Dijon – making his debut
in 24 various repertory roles – and then as guest in various
French theatres: the Chatelet in Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, ect.
His career in Italy began in 2001, when he took part in the opera season Arena Sferisterio in Macerata as
il Re in “Aida”, performed then in Rovigo, Livorno, Pisa and Pavia.
He participated in a “Un ballo in maschera” as Samuel
in the opera season at Ponchielli Theatre in Cremona, then in Lucca and Brescia.
At the opening of the Concert Hall in Dijon he made his debut in the role of Ramfis in “Aida”.
In Rovigo he sang Zaccaria in “Nabucco”, in Seoul Korea, the role
of Timur in “Turandot” together with Martinucci and Casolla. In Verona at the Filarmonico Theatre he performed Angelotti in “Tosca”, still with Martinucci.
He speaks Italian and French fluently and is studying English. Future engagements include Zeffirelli’s Aida, il Re, at Arena di Verona, and Zuniga in Carmen at the Rome Opera house.
